In May 2025, Prof. Dr. Markus Gloe was a guest in the 6th podcast episode of the Munich Center for Teacher Education (MZL). He is Director of the Geschwister-Scholl-Institute for Political Science at LMU, where he is responsible for the teaching unit Political Education and Didactics for Politics and Society. Since March 2022, he has been working together with the MZL on the project “EU goes School – Teachers as EU Ambassadors (EGS-LAB)” to strengthen political education in schools and make Europe more tangible for young people.
In this interview, Prof. Dr. Gloe talks about the role that knowledge about the EU plays in turning young people into active and informed citizens and about the importance and strengthening of European values at a time when nationalism and populist movements are becoming increasingly prevalent in society.
